The rugged beauty and abundant wildlife of Alaska draw hunters worldwide, and Alaska Bush Adventures offers an unforgettable experience. Our years of expertise and comfortable base camps provide access to remote hunting grounds for guided and unguided moose, caribou, and bear hunts, fulfilling your big game hunting dreams.
In 1978, drawn by Alaska’s wilderness, I ventured north. By 1982, my family and I made Alaska our home. Years of hunting and fishing led me to discover a prime hunting area with no other outfitters. In 1985, we established Alaska Bush Adventures (ABA), a family-owned guide and outfitter service in this quiet region of Southwestern Alaska. My son Ryan and I are Alaskan Master Guides, supported by Registered Alaskan Guides Roy and Mike, who joined us in the 90s. Together, we offer decades of experience guiding for Moose, Caribou, Brown Bear, and Black Bear, with expertise in calling, raking, and understanding the habits of these big game species, providing a significant advantage for our clients.
Since 1985, our seasoned Alaskan Guides have operated with ethical fair chase principles, offering authentic guided and fully outfitted unguided Alaskan hunting experiences for Moose, Caribou, Brown/Grizzly Bear, and Black Bear.
Our Alaska moose hunting camps are situated west of the Alaska Range in the Kuskokwim River Valley and its tributaries. Guided clients hunt from well-stocked base camps along these remote rivers. Our main base camp offers safe river landing and departure for transporting harvested game and hunters. Our Guide Use Areas (GUAs), a secluded region over 250 miles west of Anchorage, require a minimum 2.5-hour floatplane flight to reach. Guided clients enjoy numerous comforts at our well-maintained riverside base camps.
We typically utilize DHC-2 De-Havilland Beavers with extended-range wingtip fuel tanks for safe travel to and from our hunting areas. The distance from major communities, Alaska Fish and Game regulations for Game Management Unit 19, and the limited safe landing spots in the upper river branches provide hunters with an enhanced opportunity for success and comfort in a region with a healthy big game population that hasn’t been overhunted for decades.

Planning an Alaskan big game hunt is a significant undertaking, and Alaska Bush Adventures is dedicated to providing thorough logistical support for a seamless experience from start to finish. Our extensive, firsthand knowledge of our Guide Use Areas, local wildlife populations, and their habitats is a valuable asset when choosing your outfitter.
Alaska supports healthy populations of Moose, Caribou, Brown Bear, Black Bear, and Wolves. However, its vast size results in lower animal density compared to other states. Wildlife flourishes in remote, less accessible regions with essential year-round habitat, largely untouched by overhunting due to their distance from populated areas.
With years of refining our services, we invite you to call us to discuss your specific hunt and address any questions regarding our infrastructure, comprehensive logistics, and Anchorage-based support for game processing.
Our comfortable river base camps offer prime opportunities for harvesting Moose, Brown/Grizzly Bear, and Black Bear. These camps feature spacious wall tents, cooking amenities, heating, hot showers, and comfortable cots. Guided Moose hunters utilize jet boats to navigate productive river areas. Our base camps are equipped with satellite phones for communication, and guides use video cameras to document your hunt.
For our DIY Unguided Alaska moose river float hunts and Alaskan Barren Ground Caribou fly-out spike camp hunts, we provide complete outfitting, including all necessary camping and hunting gear, food, and beverages. You only need to bring your personal hunting equipment. Detailed gear and food lists, along with a suggested personal gear list, can be found on our FAQ page. We also offer a comprehensive Itinerary covering logistical details and information on Anchorage services such as hotels, bush plane transportation, and game processing (meat, taxidermy, shipping). We encourage you to contact our references for their personal experiences.
Venturing into the Alaskan wilderness for a big game hunt presents numerous uncertainties for first-timers. Overlooking crucial details can unfortunately lead to costly mistakes and potentially ruin what should be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just as we, as Alaskans, would face unforeseen challenges hunting in your home state, the reverse holds true. Despite Alaska’s vastness, many easily accessible areas near larger communities have experienced significant hunting pressure for decades, impacting the populations of some big game species due to both local hunters and outfitters operating in closer proximity. Choosing a guide with expertise in more remote, less pressured areas is key to a truly rewarding Alaskan hunt.

Les, thanks again for a great Hunt, Alaska Bush Adventures provided my son Regan and I with a very successful and unique Moose Hunt.
You and Heath really worked hard for me. I took a nice 55.5in bull on the 3th day. Our hunt with Rick from Fla. and Rob and Bob from Ohio was a great trip.
This is truly one amazing place and one hell of a adventure, I’ve harvested two amazing trophy class bulls with Alaska Bush Adventures, and going back this year for a 3rd hunt, I’ve hunted many places and this will definitely be the best there is.
I would highly recommend ABA to anyone looking for an outfitter to provide them with all the necessary gear as well as a great hunting area. It was a great experience and I look forward to using them again.
My friend and I did a unguided fully outfitted moose float trip the 2014 season through Alaska Bush Adventures.
They were both very willing, able, and helpful in answering our many questions about gear, weather, hunting, etc.
I want to start by thanking Alaska Bush Adventures for a GREAT Alaskan adventure. I selected Alaska Bush Adventures after exploring other options and talking with Les on the phone several times.
