Moose Hunting in Alaska

Experience the solitude and stunning beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on our fully outfitted DIY unguided moose float hunts. We provide all major equipment and provisions, allowing you to focus on your adventure along western Alaska’s pristine, uncrowded river systems. Choose from a 40-mile float for a shorter trip or an immersive 110-mile wilderness experience (approximately 36 hours of floating). With only a limited number of trips (4-5) each season, our comprehensive outfitting makes the remote and secluded Alaskan wilderness more accessible than ever – just bring your personal hunting gear.

This trip will require a minimum of two hunters to book. While the rivers are Class I, prior rafting experience is recommended for a safer and more enjoyable trip. One float hunting trip begins on a small body of water near the headwaters of the river system. All of our float hunting trips end once you have arrived at our main base camp location. This is the only deep straight stretch on the river and is long enough to land a float plane.

On these trips we strongly recommend you only set up camp two to three times and take your time hunting at these places before you progress further down the river corridor.

Fully Outfitted Unguided DIY River Float Hunt for Alaskan Yukon Moose

The river systems for our DIY Unguided Alaska moose float hunts feature naturally meandering courses abundant with twists, turns, backwater sloughs, and oxbows – creating ideal moose habitat. These shallow, upland mountain river drainages are exclusively accessed by float plane at the deep, straight stretch where our main base camp is strategically located.

Most bulls are harvested near the river significantly reducing the time required to transport your moose back to your campsite. Save time and energy on long, arduous pack-outs often associated with drop camp style hunts. This allows more hunting time for your partner to harvest their bull moose too.
